Student Athlete: Lindsey Roncone

Columbiana's Lindsey Roncone

Balance defines Lindsey Roncone’s approach to both school and athletics.

“Working hard in the classroom just carries over to sports,” she said.   “They intertwine knowing you have to work hard in both things and keep them both, you just have to work hard in everything.”

Roncone is a three sport standout for Columbiana. Lindsey is a two year letter winner in volleyball, a three year letter winner in basketball, and a four year letter winner in track. She was a back row hitter for the volleyball team. As a member of the basketball team she was an all-county selection and served as team captain. While also serving as captain on the track team, Lindsey is currently competing in the 4×200 and 4×800 relay teams as well as the 400 individually.

Now that she’s a senior she tries to do more than just leading by example.

“Vocally sometimes yeah, if I see people who aren’t working as hard as I know they can,” Roncone said.  ” I just try to pick them up and tell them they can do it.”

In the classroom, Roncone boasts a 3.95 grade point average, and also took college prep courses at the Kent State University Salem Branch.  Roncone is a member of National Honor Soceity, Student Government, and French Club. She has also volunteered for various charitable organizations including Angels for Animals and others through her church.

She will attend Ohio State and pursue veterinary degree. But before that happens she’s focused on finishing track season on a high note.

“We just have fun everyday and we know we do what we have to do and work hard to get where we need to be. We have really strong bonds together so it’s exciting to be able to do that with people you love,” she said.
