WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – An upgrade is taking place with area power lines in Trumbull County, but that’s not the only thing being fixed.
First Energy is replacing old power lines in Lordstown and Newton Township. They are taking down the wooden “H” poles and putting up mono-poles.
Because of the truck traffic, the company has signed Road Use Maintenance Agreements (RUMA) with the county to fix the roads they use when they are done.
“You are going to see quite a bit of activity from them, and you are going to see quite a bit of paving will be done at their expense,” said Trumbull County RUMA Coordinator Jack Simon. “The bottom line is we are going to get some free paving done in the county.”
In addition to First Energy, salt water injection well operators have come to the engineer’s department asking to repave roads they use in the county. Simon said the operators realize their trucks are tearing up the roads and are offering to help, even though they are not required to make repairs.
