PORT CLINTON, Ohio (WYTV) – A Boardman man was killed in a chain-reaction, three-vehicle crash in Port Clinton.
The accident happened about 10:45 p.m. Saturday on State Route 53 in Portage Township.
According to police, Thomas Lamb, 53, of Boardman, and his passenger Angela Lamb, 49, were traveling south on Route 53 when a pickup truck driven by Susie Gonzalez, 35, of Port Clinton, attempted to make a left turn from the northbound lane and turned into the path of Lamb’s motorcycle.
Lamb struck the side of Gonzalez’s pickup, ejecting her and her passenger Miguel Popoca, 37, also of Port Clinton.
A motorcycle traveling behind Lamb driven by John Rice, 42, of Toronto, hit Lamb’s motorcycle, ejecting Lamb and his passenger.
All vehicles came to rest in the roadway.
Gonzalez and Angela Lamb were flown my medical helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo with serious injuries.
Rice and his passenger, Amy Rice, 42, also of Toronto, and Popoca were taken by ambulance to Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton with non-life threatening injuries.
Thomas Lamb was pronounced dead at the scene.
Seatbelts were not in use by either occupant in the pickup. Safety helmets were in use by all motorcyclists.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.
State Route 53 was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation.
Three other motorcyclists were killed in Ohio on Saturday. The separate crashes in Columbus killed two 27-year-olds and a 25-year-old.
