Super Nationals rolls into Salem

SALEM, Ohio (WYTV)– Here’s something you don’t see often, four 1940 Chevys all parked in a row. It’s definitely one of the more interesting things visitors will see if you come out here to the Super Cruise in Salem.

Now WYTV had a chance to talk with some of the drivers today and they say this is an event that they look forward to every year, it’s a chance for them to catch up with some other drivers that they might not always get to stay in touch with. Also talking to some other drivers they tell that this is something they are passing down through the generations– ran into a gentleman who has his son and his grandson out here from Illinois, so keeping it in the family, and they tell me that’s one of the things they really like about it.

“Going to cruises showing off my car, can’t beat it,” said Hunter Fields, third generation car cruiser.

“We all work on them together and my dad taught us everything,” said Clarence Fields II, second generation car cruiser.

“Bought it in 1955 at the age of 14 for $100 bucks, took me two years to pay for it with a quarter an hour wages,” said Clarence Field, first generation car cruiser.

If you do make it out to Salem, keep an eye out for a pair of 1940 Chevy’s. It turns out their identical and their owners are actually identical twins so it’s only fitting that their cars match their looks and personalities.
