Mercer County Grange Fair celebrates 50 years

Tuesday marked the third day at the fairgrounds.

MERCER COUNTY, Pa. (WYTV) — Quite an honor was made this year at the Mercer County Grange Fair, which is celebrating it’s 50th annual edition.

Tuesday marked the third day at the fairgrounds, with the big parade and it was also judging day.

Jim Richardson’s mother, Ginny, and his grandfather, were two key people getting the fair started.

He remembers growing up on the fairgrounds and when the the first phone was added in 1972.

“That was only phone we had here. So I’d have to put a quarter in my shoes. That’s how I first learned to use a phone,” said Richardson.

On Wednesday, the 50-year milestone will be recognized in the grandstand.
