AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – With construction of the Hollywood Gaming facility in full swing, the Route 46 corridor is under development. With hopes of capitalizing on the boom, Austintown trustees are offering up a 21-acre lot for auction this Saturday.
“I have got a couple calls and I know the trustees have called me a couple of times because someone has called them,” said Mike Dockery, Austintown Township Administrator.
The property is just a few miles from the new gaming facility, which is prompting interest in the entire area.
“You’ve seen a lot of construction in that area, and we’re very excited about that because it does bring more people in to the Austintown area,” said Mike Galle, manager at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course. “Since we’ve been here, we have seen a number of things going on. We know there has been a hotel expansion. We know the corridor is getting very cleaned up.”
Dockery said the development along Route 46 will help attract new residents to the area and could help to fill vacant homes and move real estate.
Requests to build new roads in the area were recently approved in the township.
