YPD holds annual golf outing

HUBBARD, Ohio (WYTV) — The Youngstown Police Department took advantage of the beautiful weatheron Friday and held its annual memorial golf outing.

Teams hit the green at Pine Lakes Golf Club in Hubbard. Proceeds from the outing will benefit scholarships at YSU.

Those scholarships are in honor of four fallen officers, Joe DeMatteo, Bob Kane, Jerry Maietta and Kenny Centorame.

“Those four individuals were pretty close to a lot of people at the department, they were really good leaders in the department and we just want to hopefully get some individuals some money if they want to go into a career in law enforcement that’s fine, if not choose to do what they like,” said the event’s organizer, John Patton.

In the past, proceeds from the outing have gone to the American Cancer Society.
