CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – Nearly 300 people attended a small business workshop hosted by social media giant Facebook.

U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, (R-Marietta), and Timothy Ryan, (D-Niles), spoke at the event held at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center on Tuesday.

The Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the workshop where attendees learned how Facebook can be a cost-effective tool for small businesses.

Andy Stone with Facebook said finding more customers and deepening engagement with the public is something business owners can get from social media.

“We are here to help small businesses in the Mahoning Valley learn how to optimize their Facebook presence. Facebook is an exceptionally powerful tool from small businesses as the world’s largest social network. It is an amazing platform for small businesses,” Stone said. “Part of what makes Facebook really easy for small businesses to use is because it is economical and it is easy to develop strategies to find new customers.”

The Facebook tour continues Wednesday in Cleveland.
