COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WYTV) — There was no shortage of ways for people to show their patriotism on Friday at Columbiana’s Independence Day festival.
Held at Firestone Park, the daylong event included everything from chalk on the walk and a canoe race to an ice cream eating contest and live music. It began at 8:30 a.m.
According to organizers, it takes a lot of time and hard work to have that much fun.
“We start working on this in January. Right after our Christmas parade is over, we start working on the fireworks. Usually have a meeting at least twice a month,” festival chairman Jack Guy said.
The day’s festivities wrap up with a bang. At 8 p.m., skydivers holding American flags will land at the park football field. Fireworks start at 10 p.m.
