Fair preps underway in Trumbull County

BAZETTA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – The Trumbull County Fairgrounds are starting to fill up as more and more vendors and livestock arrive leading up to the big event.

With just two days before the gates open for another year at the Trumbull County Fair, 4-H kids are getting their livestock ready.

“I walk them every day and feed them so much every day,” said Hunter Williams, 4-H member.

“It takes a lot to get them ready. Some of them don’t like it, but they have to go through it,” said Courtney Hubbard, 4-H member. “It show responsibility, and it shows you how to take care of your animals and you can make new friends. I like it a lot.”

It’s a big process from setting up to feeding the animals, but it’s something the event’s staff looks forward to year after year.

“All the 4-H kids are putting their barns together and cleaning them up. It is just really something to watch these people work together. They really do work together to get to this fair,” said Thomas Sawyer, Trumbull County Fair Board president.

As for the kids, they just enjoy being part of the fair.

“I can have a little fun here in the summer and it entertains me,” said Hunter Griffis, 4-H member.
