Year in Review: The Bulldogs began 0-3 after falling to Hubbard (49-12), Struthers (35-14) and Howland (16-6) to complete their non-conference schedule. The Bulldogs went onto win their next 7 to advance to the post-season after a two-year absence. There Lakeview fell to Struthers in the opening round, 14-3.

Angelo Marino picked up right where Erich Schmitt and Anthony Franco left off by throwing for over 1,000-yards. As a sophomore, Marino connected on 52.5% of his passes (94-179) while tossing for 11 touchdowns. Angelo also ran for 752 yards and 9 scores. The offense posted another season of 23-points or better per game at 26.4. That marked the seventh season in a row of such success in scoring the football (2006: 12.2).< /p>

Coach Tom Pavlansky is only 4 victories from reaching the 100-win plateau at Lakeview. The Bulldogs’ first test will come at Hubbard when Lakeview meets the Eagles on Friday, August 29.

3 Things to Watch in Cortland
Senior leadership combined with a youth movement.
Plenty of senior leadership will be at the core of the 2014 Lakeview Bulldogs. Players such as Ryan Pishotti (19 catches, 253 receiving yards; 3 INTs), Michael Mannella (952 rushing yards, 11 TDs), Chris Romano (83 tackles), and Andrew Grove (80 tackles, 4 fumble recoveries) will lead the group into action. However, the Bulldogs feature a strong junior class led by Angelo Marino (1534 passing yards, 752 rushing yards), Sean Rein (171 receiving yards) and Nick Bodt (32 tackles).

Turnover ratio must improve.
Lakeview has been a mainstay for many years in forcing turnovers. Last year the Bulldogs forced 16; however, they gave the ball away 25 times during the regular season. That left Lakeview with a -9 number in the turnover ratio column. Compare that to their 2012 figure of +10.

Surging Offense.
Last year, the Bulldogs averaged 215 rushing yards (215.1) and 148 passing yards (148.3) per game. That was an increase in total yards of 72 stripes per outing.
