YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) — It’s the 50th anniversary of the fast food chain, Arby’s.

Arby’s founder, Leroy Raffel, came back to Youngstown to celebrate the milestone. He and his brother, both originally from New Castle, opened the first Arby’s restaurant in Boardman in 1964.

Raffel says the first restaurant had 10 seats and only about 20 parking spots outside.

After all of these years, he said he hopes the current employees remember the most important things about the company.

“I hope that they some how, by some miracle, try to remember what our original concept was 45, which is really high quality take good care of customers treat everybody nice,” said Raffel.

Raffel was joined tonight in downtown by many of his original employees.
