Bikers Against Child Abuse sets initial meeting

Bikers Against Child Abuse

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Advocates for victims of child abuse have a new ally.

The Youngstown chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse will have its first meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday at Pappa’s Sports Bar, 1639 Poland Ave.

Group member Shannon Benzenhoefer said BACA is an international support group that empowers victims by letting them tout the mantra “My friends are scarier than the guy who hurt me.”

To receive help from BACA, abuse cases do not have to be in the court system, but they do have to be documented.

When BACA decides to support a child, the whole chapter rides out to an adoption ceremony, where the child is given a teddy bear, a blanket, a vest and of course, a biker name, as they are brought into their new biker family.

BACA offers to accompany the children to therapy, school, home and court to provide encouragement and strength.
