YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Take a Saturday afternoon in the non-winter months and chances are Mill Creek Park’s Fellows Riverside Gardens will be packed with wedding parties.

It is a Youngstown tradition: Get married on a Saturday and the first stop after the church is Fellows for pictures.

When Shane and Amanda Morris were married 10 years ago, they had pictures taken there. On Saturday, after renewing their vows, they returned.

“It is beautiful here because there is so many different places you can do it at. There’s the roses, the different flowers, there’s the lake,” Amanda Morris said.

Frank Guzman has been photographing weddings for 40 years. He has shot weddings all over the park, but Fellows is easily the most popular spot.

“It’s beautiful. Who has something like this in the area? This is beautiful. It is gorgeous,” Guzman said.

The most popular spot for wedding photos at Fellows is the Lake Glacier overlook. As bridesmaids lounged on nearby benches, David and Brittany Steele used the overlook for several combinations.

“We know lots of people that take their pictures here. It’s fun. Nice day, perfect day,” Brittany Steele said on Saturday afternoon.

Milling around were the groomsmen with their jackets lined up along the rocky ledge, waiting on the next pose.

“It’s hometown, so you know, everybody pretty much enjoys coming here. We have one of our buddies from California and he is having a great time,” David Steele said.

WYTV 33 News Anchor Stan Boney was at Fellows Riverside Gardens for about an hour on Saturday and saw five wedding parties in that short time.
