Beloit, OH (WYTV)- Former NFL defensive end Jimmie Bell hosted The Legends Football/Life Skills Camp at West Branch Middle School Saturday. The camp featured USA Football’s ‘FUNdamentals’ curriculum for children ages 8-13. Bell is a Youngstown Ursuline and Ohio State alum, and played three seasons in the NFL.

“I want them to understand through this fun that they are the awesome ones,” said Bell. “They are the tremendous ones and they are the ones that they can look inside themselves and know that they can do anything that their heart desires and that’s the fun.”

Bell travels all over the country teaching kids the fundamentals of the game, but he couldn’t be happier to be back in his hometown.

“Whenever i go across the country, I let everyone know. we’re raised a little bit different and there’s something a little bit different in the water, but I attribute everything that I am and everything I’m going to be to Youngstown and the Northeast Ohio area,” he said.

And his impact reaches far beyond Youngstown, but for Bell, it’s all apart of his lifelong mission.

“This is what I do,” he said. “Sometimes I don’t even like to call it giving back because this is part of my heart. This is part of my life.”
