WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A change in the way ValleyCare Health System of Ohio  manages nursing may impact licensed practical nurses at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Hospital administrators say they plan to start using registered nurses and nursing assistants to provide most patient care, leaving 47 licensed practical nurses at the hospital wondering what will happen to their jobs.

The Service Employees International Union 1199, which represents the nurses, is concerned the LPNs will lose their jobs and the extra work will be shifted to the RNs.

The LPNs have a contract with the health care system through 2016, according to the union.
