White House Fruit Farm hosts farm fresh cook off

CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) — A cooking creativity show down at White House Fruit Farm.

Today was the second annual farm fresh cook off.

Contestants had to prepare an entry with five ingredients.

The only thing– they didn’t find out what those ingredients were until a few days ago.

This year’s picks– tomatoes, blueberries, eggplant, basil and bulgur wheat.

“Right now blueberries are plentiful, we’ve had a wonderful blueberry crop this year, and we just grew this year those mini eggplants that are just so cute and we thought we’d give them a try,” said Marge Burtnett, Farm Fresh Cook-off coordinator.

Our own, Gerry Ricciutti was one of the four judges.

First place went to Lisa Fullerton, of Columbiana.

She whipped up red white and blue stuffed chicken breast.
