New additions part of backyard carnival

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A New Middletown girl took her mission to help others to Welker Park Sunday.

This is the third year 9-year-old Olivia Helmick has held a backyard carnival to benefit the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.

Every year there have been basket raffles, food and drink, games and a dunking booth, but this year two food trucks were brought on the grounds brining a real carnival experience to the fundraiser.

Past carnivals have raised about $4,000. This year, Olivia hopes to raise about $5,000.
