CLEVELAND, Ohio (WYTV) – Authorities sentenced a Youngstown man to 20 years in federal prison for his role in a conspiracy that brought heroin from Chicago and other areas to Youngtown, according to U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio Steven M. Dettelbach.
Alexis Perez, 32, was previously found guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin, and related charges.
“This ring brought heroin in from out of state and sold it on the streets (of) Youngstown,” Dettelbach said. “We will continue to do these kinds of exhaustive investigations designed at shutting off the stream of illegal drugs.”
The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted from March 2009 through March 2012 by the FBI Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force and the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys David M. Toepfer and M. Kendra Klump.
