YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – On Wednesday evening, clergy members in Missouri who are with the faith-based PICO National Network marched to the St. Louis District Attorney’s office to pray for peace and justice for Mike Brown, who was shot to death by a police officer.
And Youngstown may be far away from Missouri, but that did not stop local church members from standing and praying in solidarity with those marching in St. Louis.
“We here just to again lift up Ferguson, lift up the Michael Brown family, lift up this country, lift up our own city,” Rev. Christopher McKee Jr. of Tabernacle Baptist Church said.
As church members held each others’ hands tightly, they also prayed that what happened in Ferguson does not happen in Youngstown.
“It is scary because I even have a son in his 30s. I have grandkids in their teens,” attendee Beatrice Dixon said.
The pastors gave another message besides prayer: Be more attentive to the politicians who are elected, not only in Youngstown, but nationally as well.
