The Indians fell to Erie Cathedral Prep in the Class AAA State Quarterfinal, 28-0. In that contest, the Indians’ 21-game streak of rushing for at least 100 yards as a team was snapped when West Allegheny was only able to mount 12 stripes via the ground. WAHS has knocked off New Castle six straight times. Senior signal caller Andrew Koester threw for 1,651 yards last season while tossing 19 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions in 162 pass attempts. The team’s leading rusher from a season ago, Chayse Dillon, is back after accumulating a stat line of 1203 yards rushing and 12 TDs.

The Indians have advanced to the post-season in 16 of the last 17 years.

Joe Cowart’s Hurricane bunch posted a 3-1 home record a year ago with the only blemish coming at the hands of West Allegheny (37-31). New Castle’s last win against the Indians was on September 26, 2008 when the ‘Canes were victorious on the road (35-17).
