Car hits pole in Boardman

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – A car crashed into a pole in Boardman Township Wednesday morning, according to a Boardman Police dispatcher.

The accident happened on Palestine Ave., just off of Market St. in Boardman around 10 a.m. Wednesday. The force from the crash snapped the pole in two pieces, and crews responding to the scene had to use a cord to temporarily keep the pole upright.

Authorities decided to shut down Palestine Ave. while Ohio Edison worked on fixing the pole and transformer attached to the pole, according to a Boardman Police dispatcher, who said the road was still closed as of 11:45 a.m.

An Ohio Edison representative did not know if the road was still closed as of 4 p.m.

Emergency workers took one person to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, according to the dispatcher, who did not know the condition of the injured person.
