Winning sketch selected for Warren mural

Sleeping Giant mural in Warren

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A winner has been announced in a mural project sponsored by the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership.

Thomas Morgan’s mural, “Sleeping Giant,” soon will grace a retainer wall at the former site of the Mahoningside Power Plant at the intersection of Summit Street and Mahoning Avenue. The wall is 11 feet tall by 100 feet wide.

Matt Martin, executive director of Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, said 27 artists submitted sketches for consideration. The sketches were displayed at the Trumbull Art Gallery throughout the month of August and Morgan’s artwork placed first in the popular vote and was selected the jury.

The project was made possible by a $2,700 grant from TNP. Work on the mural should begin by the end of the month.
