Cardinal Mooney gaining steam

Youngstown, Ohio (WYTV) – Following a tough week one loss, Cardinal Mooney has been nearly perfect over the past two games, winning both without giving up a point, including this week’s win over Akron Buchtel 31-0.

A Zak Kennedy 40 yard field goal put Mooney up 3-0 in the first half.

In the second quarter, Andrew Armstrong picked off a Buchtel pass and took it back 16 yard for the score, making it 10-0 Cardinals.

Minutes later, it was Anthony Gill from two yards out, increasing the lead to 17-0.

In the third quarter, it was C.J. Amill breaking through the Buchtel defense and taking it 44 yards for the score.

Later in the third, Jon Saadey caught a short three yard pass for the score, increasing the lead to 31-0.

Mooney will play host to state power St. Vincent-St. Mary next week.
