HANOVERTON, OH (WYTV) – United trailed Newcomerstown by 13 late in the second quarter; however, the Golden Eagles scored the game’s final 35 points to run United to a 38-16 which puts them at 3-0.
The Eagles’ defense held the Trojans to just 75 yards of total offense on 48 plays from scrimmage (1.6 yards per play). On third down, Newcomerstown was just 3 for 13. The Trojans finished the game with as many turnovers as United (3).
United’s offense only tried to pass the ball four times (not completing a pass) but ran the ball 63 times for 333 stripes. A pair of Golden Eagles gained over 100 yards – Colton Antram and Caige Vincent – Antram rushed for 176 (22 carries and 3 scores) while Vincent compiled a stat line of 22 attempts for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Last year, United doubled up Newcomerstown 40-20.
This was the Trojans first road game of the year. Last week, they defeated Shenandoah 46-20 for their first victory of the campaign.
