West Middlesex, Lucich powered past Farrell

West Middlesex, PA. (WYTV) – West Middlesex earned a 47-20 victory behind four Eric Lucich touchdown runs (227 rushing yards) as the Big Reds improve to 2-1.

West Middlesex led at halftime 14-6, however, Farrell opened the second half with a 10-play, 65-yard drive which culminated in a Tyrrell Atkins 2-yard touchdown run followed by Davaughn Greene’s catch from Alex Myers to convert the two-point conversion to tie the game at 14.

The following possession saw the Big Reds receive two big runs from Eric Lucich (22 yards) and Trey Staunch (11 yards) to end with a Staunch 9 yard run to give West Middlesex a 21-14 advantage.

Back came Farrell, John Jackson received a 54-yard pass and run from Myers to cut the lead to one. On the extra point attempt, the Steelers failed to convert a fake as West Middlesex still led 21-20.

The Big Reds answered the Steelers’ long touchdown pass with a couple of big plays of their own, Staunch rushed for 24 yards which would be proceeded by Lucich’s 29 yard score to give Middlesex an eight-point lead (28-20).

After an interception deep in Farrell’s territory, West Middlesex’s Lucich struck again as he ran in a 65-yard touchdown (WM 34-20).

Finally, a play after almost a miscue in the backfield by the Big Reds, Lucich scores his fourth touchdown of the game with 7:33 remaining from 35 yards out. Late in the fourth quarter, Joey Trippy caught a 15-yard TD pass from Staunch (his first touchdown pass of the game) to close out the scoring at 47-20. Middlesex scored the game’s final 26 points.

Next week, West Middlesex travels to Wilmington for a huge District 10 showdown while Farrell will welcome an impressive Lakeview team.
