Poland wins in overtime

Boardman, Ohio (WYTV) – A field goal in overtime sent the Poland Bulldogs home with a win over the host Boardman Spartans, 10-7.

A scoreless game in the first half ended when the Spartans’ Mario Graziani took it in from one yard out, making it 7-0.

Trailing by a score at the half, the Bulldogs came out in the second half looking to even things up.

With 5:29 remaining in the third quarter, Dom Petrony connected with Gino Centofanti from one yard out to even the score at seven.

The game would go into overtime, tied at 7.

Boardman received the ball first and was unable to generate any offense, turning the ball over on downs.

Needing only a field goal to take home the win, the Bulldogs turned to the big leg of Bob Devito who drilled a 34 yard field goal, winning the game for Poland.

Poland (3-0) hosts Bishop Watterson next week.

Boardman (0-3) will look to pick up their first win next week when they travel to GlenOak.
