Howland plays to draw with Canfield

Howland, OH (WYTV) – The Canfield boys soccer team took an early lead but Howland came back and played to an even 2-2 draw Thursday.

The Cardinals (5-3-2) got on the board first off a corner kick, as Ben Feuer found the head of Frank Phillips for the game’s first goal. Three minutes later, Howland took advantage of a foul in the box, and Zachary Sperling put away the penalty kick.

After a 1-1 tie at halftime, both teams scored again in the second half. Phillips scored his second of the night, also assisted by Feuer, while Marlon Szczepaniak added another for the Tigers.

Howland (6-0-2) was led by Howard Bortmas with 11 saves. Canfield’s Jeff Joseph stopped 9 on the night.
