VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – After months of hard work, Vienna Township is getting a historical marker.
The marker will be installed on a post in the township green by the gazebo in Vienna Center. The Vienna Historical Society plans to unveil the marker at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
One side of the marker will provide details on how the township was founded. On the other side, people can read the history of the green, Copper Penny, the Vienna Township Cemetery and the Vienna Baptist Church.
“We wanted the community to know about it. Not everybody is involved in the Vienna Historical Society, so we want people to be able to walk through the green here and be able to read the history,” Vienna Historical Society President Christine Novicky said.
Besides the unveiling, the Historical Society will announce the winners of the children’s art contest. Elementary students drew pictures of what they believed best represented Vienna.
The Vienna Baptist Church will have a chicken dinner following the dedication.
