Church welcomes new Wick corridor neighbors

Wick Neighbors block party

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – St. John’s Episcopal Church hosted a block party Monday evening to welcome its newest neighbors to the Wick Avenue corridor.

Youngstown State University President and first lady, Jim and Ellen Tressel were the guests of honor. Business and community leaders, clergy, friends and neighbors came out to enjoy an evening of food and fellowship on the church lawn.

The Tressels have been back in town since late May, but they’re still meeting people and catching up with old friends.

“We knew so many, but there is a lot of new that’s gone on here in the 14 years we were gone, so it’s great to connect with our wonderful faculty, of course anytime you meet with a student, and just being around the neighborhood. And the Wick Neighbors inviting us over. It’s awesome,” Tressel said.

Food was provided by Smokey Hollow neighbors and Cassese’s MVR, whose owners are long-time friends of the Tressels. Also providing sweet treats was another neighborhood newcomer, YO Doughnuts.
