Ex-Warren cop pleads guilty to theft

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A former Warren police officer pleaded guilty Monday morning to theft-related charges.

Reuben Shaw was accused of entering a locked garage last year and having a vehicle inside towed without permission in order to restore it.

Shaw pleaded guilty Monday to theft and falsification, dereliction of duty and criminal trespass. He agreed to resign and give up his police certification. He will be sentenced later.

“We felt the reduction from a few low-level felonies to four misdemeanors was warranted. The vehicle he was in possession of was only in his possession for less than 24 hours. He really made no efforts to hide the vehicle. He just made some serious mistakes in judgment,” Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Chris Becker said.
