First half goals lift Mooney over West Branch

Struthers, OH (WYTV) – The Cardinal Mooney boys soccer team scored twice in the first half, and played solid defense in the second to hold off West Branch,  2-0 Thursday.

Junior Nick Koken put in the first goal about midway through the half, assisted by senior Myles Harris. Then, sophomore Chris Perry headed in a cross from  junior Mike Mike Myers to make it 2-0, to ultimately make up the final score.

The Cardinals improve to 8-5, while West Branch falls to 7-4-1 on the season.

Up next for Mooney, they host Canton Central Catholic at 7 p.m. at James J. Simon Sr. Soccer Park.
