DEA hosts national prescription drug take back day

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Drug Enforcement Administration hosted a national prescription drug take back day Saturday, offering folks a place to safely dispose of their unwanted medication.

The Austintown Police Department was one of more than 200 places in the state participating. Officers and volunteers were offering “drive-by” services so people didn’t even have to leave their cars. In just one hour, four boxes were filled.

“We’ve had about 12 to 13 cars, but like I said multiple boxes of medication have been dropped off.  We have had a good turn out so far,” said Officer Mark Sember, Austintown Police Department.

If you missed Saturday’s take back day, you can always drop off your old prescription medication at the Austintown police station or any other drop off locations.
