Defense leads Mooney over Lake Catholic

Mentor, Ohio (WYTV)- Behind another stellar defensive effort by Cardinal Mooney, the Cardinals were able to grab a big win on the road against Lake Catholic 31-6.

Mooney was able to force 3 turnovers including an interception in the 2nd quarter by Ray Anderson that eventually setup a Anthony Gill touchdown run that put the Cardinals up 14-0.

The first touchdown of the night came earlier on Mooney’s second drive of the night. On the first play of that drive, C.J. Amill found space in the middle of the Cougars defense taking it 73 yards for the touchdown pass. He had 108 yards rushing on the night.

With the win the Cardinals improve to 4-1 overall and prepare for a big Week 6 matchup against St. Edwards.
