Groups work together to clean up Packard Park

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) — The Mahoning River twists and turns through-out the Valley. Several groups were working to clean up parts of it Saturday.

People were told to bring different tools to help clean the banks of the river.

The group cleaned up trash and overgrowth in areas near Packard Park in Warren.

Felicia Armstrong, with Friends of the Mahoning River, said it is essential to keep the river clean for people and the environment.

“We want to let the people know that it’s a river that’s worthwhile that people can come out and enjoy and kind of get past the stigma that it has,” said Felicia Armstrong, Friends of the Mahoning River.

The cleanup went on for several hours earlier today.
