Andover woman killed in Mercer crash

WEST SALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WYTV) – An Andover woman was killed in a single-car crash Monday morning in northern Mercer County.

Pennsylvania State Police said Monica Whitlach, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene after her car went off West Jameson Road just after 8 a.m. and hit a tree.

A child in the car at the time of the crash was taken to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. There is no word on how badly the child was hurt.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but foggy conditions were reported Monday morning in the area. The road was shut down for a few hours, but is now reopen.

Greenville officers said they couldn’t use the State MedEvac medical helicopter, because it couldn’t land or take off because of the foggy weather conditions.
