WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred hours apart on the same street in Warren.
The first robbery took place about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the Market Food Mart, 1011 East Market St.
According to police, two men wearing black clothes and red bandanas covering their faces entered the store and ran behind the counter where they put a gun to an employee’s head and dragged her to the middle of the floor.
The suspects then loaded up on cartons of cigarettes from the shelves.
During the incident, another employee returned from the back of the store, and the suspects ordered both workers to put cash from the register in a plastic bag. While they were filling the bag, one of the suspects ripped off the necklace of one of the employees and took both of their cell phones.
The suspects then ran from the store leaving the bag of money behind.
About 8 hours later, the BP gas station, 1290 East Market St., was robbed when a man wearing all black and a ski mask over his face approached a customer from behind with a gun as he entered the store.
An employee has just opened the store at 5 a.m. Monday when the suspect followed a customer through the door and demanded his wallet and told him to empty his pockets, taking $28 and a cell phone.
The suspect then ordered the store employee to empty the register taking about $100.
