Driver hits police officer, takes off

MILTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is looking for a hit and run driver after a Lake Milton police officer was hit.

The accident happened about 8 p.m. Wednesday on Newton Falls Road.

According to the patrol, Corporal Daniel Barb, 40, was finishing up a traffic stop on Newton Falls Road when a car hit him and drove off. Barb was outside of his patrol car when he was hit.

Investigators with the Ohio state Highway Patrol said he was lying outside his vehicle for about 10 minutes before someone spotted him.

“We don’t have a lot of information. No one saw the crash or any other vehicles that could give us a lead,” said Sargent Bret Henderson, Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Barb suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

The patrol has not released a description of the vehicle they are looking for. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
