YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – More stations may soon be dropping their gas prices under the $3 per gallon.
According to GasBuddy petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan, Ohio and Indiana have already seen prices at some stations drop under $3 as crude prices continue their slide.
Specific major cities in the Great Lakes that could see some prices under $3/gallon in the coming week:
- Michigan: Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo
- Ohio: Akron, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton
- Indiana: Indianapolis, South Bend
- Minnesota: Minneapolis
“With oil prices sliding, I know a lot of motorists are giddy at the prospect of the first local gas station dropping under $3/gallon. It seems like it has been a long time, and indeed, it has been close to a year since prices dropped this low,” DeHaan said.
DeHaan said it’s not unusual for prices to drop under $3/gallon in the autumn, but this year it appears prices are likely to drop to that level several weeks before it happened last year.
