COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WYTV) – An author from Canfield is helping families battling cancer with a new children’s book.
D’Wayne Robinson wrote the book after his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her illness, D’Wayne and his son cut down a tree and put it up in their living room.
They decorated it with all the cards and tokens of love and faith they received as a way to encourage her during her fight. The book is named after that tree: The Luvya Tree.
The goal is to show kids ways to offer support to someone battling a serious illness, and also to comfort them.
“Give them some encouragement that if the ultimate end is death, that there is hope of an eternal and loving God that is there to be with that loved one that passes,” Robinson said.
He read the book to students at Heartland Christian School Thursday morning. His wife had been an employee there.
