Struthers, Ohio (WYTV) – On a rain-soaked Friday night, the Struthers Wildcats picked up their third win on the season, beating Brookfield on Homecoming weekend 19-10.
In the first quarter a 36 yard field goal would put the Warriors on top 3-0, but in the second quarter the Wildcats would take the lead on a seven yard touchdown catch by Austin Yemma. A missed extra point would make it 6-3 Struthers.
In the third quarter, the Warriors would cash in on a Struthers mistake to retake the lead. A miscommunication would lead to a fumble that Brookfield scooped up and took in for the score, putting them back on top 10-6.
On the first play of the fourth quarter, the Wildcats would retake the lead. Wildcat quarterback A.J. Musolino called his own number and punched it in from two yards out. A second missed extra point would make it 12-10 Struthers.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats pulled away. Taking a gamble on fourth down and six, Struthers’ quarterback Musolino connected with Anthony Clark for a score to push the lead to 19-10.
Struthers (3-3) will take on rival Poland next week.
Brookfield (3-3) hosts Edgewood next week.
