Champion shuts out Newton Falls

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Champion ended their 10-game losing streak by shutting out Newton Falls, 20-0. Ironically, the Golden Flashes’ last win came against Newton Falls (56-8) on September 27, 2013.

After a scoreless first half, Champion broke through on a 13-point third quarter which saw Mason Brown score twice on one-yard runs.

The Golden Flashes (1-5) garnered 233 total yards of offense. Nate Stahlman led the way with 129 yards rushing on 25 carries. Brown compiled 12 totes for 38 yards.

For Newton Falls, Josh Walters connected on 12 of 31 passing for 183 yards. Alan Boone caught 5 passes for 83 stripes while Brad Mitchell had 5 receptions for 74 yards.

The Golden Flashes will head to Girard next week while Newton Falls plays at Jefferson.
