HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (WYTV) – Hickory jumped out to a 10-0 lead on homecoming night at the half. However, the second half would result in a Greenville victory, following 13 unanswered points to edge the Hornets 13-10. The Trojans improve to 5-1 and increase their win streak to four games. Hickory (4-2) was handed their second loss in a row for the first time since September 2010.
The Hornets began the cscoring on a Jordan Wombacher field goal in the first frame. Nick Cannone then found Joey DeJulia on a 35-yard pass play down to the Greenville 2-yard line. Andrew Pryts scored the first touchdown of the game to give the Hornets a 10-0 advantage heading into halftime.
In the second half, Greenville’s defense held Hickory’s offense in check as the Trojan offense scored once in the third quarter and on an interception return in the fourth to secure a 13-10 win. Nick Black led Greenville with 110 yards on nearly 30 carries. The Trojans outgained Hickory, 157-54. Greenville’s defense permitted just negative yardage at game’s end. Greenville lost to Slippery Rock (14-7) in week two but has not allowed a single opponent to score more than two touchdowns in a game this season.
