Poland, Ohio (WYTV) – Ttrailing by eight with time running out in the fourth quarter, the Poland Bulldogs shocked the visiting Howland Tigers on a last second field goal, winning in dramatic fashion 18-17.
In the first quarter, the Tigers’ senior running back Jaquore Marrs found the endzone to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead.
Trailing 7-3 in the second quarter, the Bulldogs would take the lead on an Austin Wilson touchdown run, making it 9-7 Poland.
In the second half, a 20 yard field goal gave the Tigers the slim 10-9 lead.
With 3:04 remaining in the game, the Tigers gave themselves some breathing room on a Marrs one yard run, increasing the Howland lead to 17-9.
With time running out and Poland is a desperate situation the Bulldogs’ Dom Petrony hit Dylan Garver for a 22 yard touchdown. Poland needed the two-point conversion to tie it up but were unsuccessful.On the ensuing kickoff, the Bulldogs recovered the on-side kick for one last desperation attempt to pick up the victory.With seconds remaining, Poland turned to kicker Bob Devito who connected on a 33 yard kick as time expired giving the Bulldogs the improbable 18-17 comeback victory.
