Girard picks up fifth win

Girard, Ohio (WYTV) – Sporting a 14-0 lead in the first half, the Girard Indians picked up their fifth win on the season, holding off Lakeview 14-7.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Indians broke through in the second quarter on a three yard Jacob Ryser touchdown run.

With 3:56 remaining in the first half, the Indians’ Christian Bello connected with Kyle Harris on a 43 yard touchdown pass to put Girard up 14-0.

The Bulldogs would tighten the game on a Nick Boldt pass to Andrew Grove on a screen that he would take 73 yards for the score with 5:57 remaining in the third quarter, but would not get any closer as they fall 14-7.

Lakeview (3-3) will travel to LaBrae next week.

Girard (5-1) hosts Champion in week seven.
