McDonald tops Western Reserve to remain unbeaten

Berlin Center, Ohio (WYTV) – Sporting identical 5-0 records heading into the High School Game of the Week, McDonald picked up a hard-fought victory over Western Reserve 14-12 in a battle of undefeated Blue Devils.

In the first quarter, senior running back Caleb Dimery gave McDonald the early lead on a 79 yard touchdown run.

Then it was Dimery again, this time on defense, finding the endzone on an interception return for a touchdown, giving McDonald the 14-0 lead.

But, Western Reserve would answer in the second quarter on a John Clegg 18 yard touchdown run for his third score on the season, bringing Western Reserve to within a touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, an offensive fumble would lead to a Western Reserve touchdown when Evan Nesbitt picked up the ball and took it in for the score, shrinking the McDonald lead to 14-12.

McDonald (6-0) will host Southern Local next week.

Western Reserve (5-1) will look to bounce back next week against Leetonia.
