Mooney can’t stop St. Ed’s

Youngstown, Ohio (WYTV) – In a battle of perrenial state powers, the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals could not overcome Division I powerhouse St. Edward, losing 34-6.

After a scoreless first quarter it would be the Eagles breaking the scoreless tie. With 8:33 remaining in the second quarter, St. Edward’s Cole Gest took the ball 60 yards for the score and a 7-0 St. Edward lead.

It was Gest again in the first half, pushing the Eagles lead to 14-0.

Following two tough weeks for the St. Edward Eagles, their offense began to click as Gest found the endzone for the third time giving the Eagles the 20-0 lead.

The Cardinals offense could not get going as Mooney falls 34-6.

Cardinal Mooney (4-2) will travel to Canisius (N.Y.) next week.
