Pet blessings held at Youngstown church

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) — Dogs, turtles and a fish were blessed Saturday morning at St. Patrick’s Church in Youngstown.

It was all part of the Feast of Saint Francis.

Although the service was short, Father Ed Noga did bless each animal with holy water.

“All denominations really kind of acknowledge that notion of being at one with the Earth through their pets and so we bless that because that’s a great connection for us with God and his goodness.,” said Father Noga.

St. Patrick’s has been holding the blessing of the animals for 20 years.
