YSU celebrates Hispanic heritage month

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) — Hispanic cultures were on display at Youngstown State University on Saturday afternoon.

The annual festival kicked off the university’s Hispanic Heritage Month program.

On Saturday, representatives of different hispanic cultures performed ethnic dances and songs. There were more than 20 countries represented.

Organizers said the hispanic community includes many different cultures.

“Most of our countries and cultures are based around the Spanish language, but we also have different dialects. But it’s also about our way of living, living fully, happily and living very united with our families and friends,” said YSU student Ana Torres.

The event is held every October on the YSU campus.
