Car show funds scholarship for racers

Boardman car show

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – For four hours Sunday afternoon, hot rods were on display in Boardman at Shepherd Storage on South Avenue for the annual Spooktacular Car Show, now in its third year.

The event benefits the Michael Fox Foundation, named after a 22-year old Ohio racer who died in an accident.

Fox’s dream was to go to a professional kart racing school. Now, the car show helps make that dream come true for someone else.

“We never had the ability to send him, so when it came about we decided this is how we are going to do this and this will be the fifth scholarship we give away today,” said Doug Baer, car show organizer.

Kids were encouraged to wear Halloween costumes because Michael’s birthday was October 31. Prizes were given away for those who were most creative.
